Fish and Crowns Worship Center
From “History of Harrison County” by Dorthy Davis:
”In 1904 the Reverend T. B. Yeakley, missionary superintendent of the Allegheny Conference of the Lutheran Synod of Maryland, organized a church of thirty-five members who met in Smith Hall on the corner of Main and Second streets in Clarksburg. When a regular minister arrived in 1906, the congregation built a modest chapel on the corner of Meigs and Park avenues. On January 1, 1914, the cornerstone for the brick structure, to be built on the same site as that where the chapel had stood, was laid. The church was dedicated September 27, 1914. In 1962, the Lutheran congregation purchased the "Cork" property south of Clarksburg at the junction of Route 19 and the Davisson Run Road…”
Built in the very early 1900’s as a Lutheran church, The Fish and Crowns Worship Center has seen a lot over the years. A number of churches have called this building home. In 2004, The building was purchased and a new church was established, Golden Harvest Ministries. Many improvements were made to the building during that time.
Several years later the “church” known as Golden Harvest Ministries dissolved, but the ministry and building remained. In 2021, Golden Harvest Ministries began a new venture, known as Fish and Crowns Ministries, which gave way to The Fish and Crowns Worship Center.
There is no other way to slice it, this is an old church. But that’s part of what makes it perfect for music. Great acoustics, old church vibe, but with modern amenities.
